Design Engineer/Project Manager
ResponsibilitiesWater Design has a specific client base that requires a unique skill set from its employees. The Project Manager must have experience working as a project manager in an engineering or architecture firm.
The position includes planning, directing, and coordinating activities of projects to ensure that projects are completed within prescribed time frame and design- fees by performing the following duties personally or through others.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Plan project execution including schedule, funding parameters, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
- Confers with project staff to outline workplan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
- Reviews progress plans, documents, and status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required.
- Prepares project plans and construction documents for management, client, or others.
- Confers with project personnel and supervisors to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.
- Ensure that designs meet applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Coordinates project with government regulatory agencies or other governmental agencies.
- Meet with clients to understand client’s vision for the project and desired aesthetics.
- Meet with clients, architects, and peer consultants from other firms to coordinate scope among engineering consultants.

To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education/Experience:
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience working as a project manager for an engineering or architecture firm
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience creating construction documents
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or two years of related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Ability:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
- Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints from clients and/or coworkers.
Math Ability:
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as algebra and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Certificates and Licenses:
- Professional Engineer (PE) not required but preferred. Will also consider licensure in architecture.
Software Skills:
- AUTOCAD, BIM (Revit preferred), design software, word, excel, outlook.
